Why Choosing a Qualified Jeweller Matters for Permanent Jewellery

Why Choosing a Qualified Jeweller Matters for Permanent Jewellery

When people first see permanent jewellery, it can look wonderfully simple….. it’s just a tiny weld joining a beautiful chain. But behind that moment is a lot more skill and knowledge than most people realise.

Every precious metal behaves differently. Sterling silver, 14k gold-filled and solid gold all need different welding settings, heat levels and techniques, and even the thickness of a chain changes how it needs to be worked. It’s a bit like cooking, the same ingredients can turn out completely differently depending on how you handle them.

Because Welded by SPJ is part of Seren Popi Jewellery which is run by a qualified jeweller, Anna,  we don’t just choose chains because they’re pretty. We choose them because we know how they’ll wear, how they’ll react to skin, water and daily life, and how they’ll stand up to being worn 24/7. Leila has been trained on welding settings and over time has perfected her methods to ensure the best results, she won’t leave a weld unless it’s perfect (if you’ve ever been in with us, you’ll know what we’re talking about!)

We also think carefully about the little details that make a big difference, like which charms are light enough for a bracelet, which ones sit beautifully on a necklace, and which chains are best for anklets that move and flex as you walk. Comfort matters just as much as beauty.

So while your welded bracelet or necklace might look effortless, it’s actually been created with a lot of care, experience and jewellery knowledge behind it - so you can wear it, love it and forget it’s even there… in the best possible way.
